Really Simple Syndication is a way of allowing people who want content to receive it automatically by computer and transfer it to a mobile device, such as an iPod.
RSS is a web feed format specified in XML and used for Web syndication. RSS delivers its information as an XML file called an "RSS feed." The RSS feed provides a way for users to passively receive newly released content.
The way it works is really simple ( truth in advertising there! ). A file located on a web site is updated whenever new content is ready for consumption. This file typically contains a title, description, and a link to any attached media. This file can be read with a browser that supports RSS or a local software client. These RSS Readers periodically check to see if the RSS feed has been updated. As new content becomes available, it can be downloaded and prepared for viewing.
